Effective August 20, 2026
Terms for a hands-on assessment and contractor-selection relationship.
These Terms of Use govern Safe In Place's website, preliminary project assessment, contractor selection, and introduction services. By using the service or submitting information, you agree to these terms.
Safe In Place assesses needs and selects contractors
Safe In Place provides preliminary needs assessment, project guidance, and contractor selection for accessibility and home-safety projects. We may assess the home directly when a closer look is needed. These services are not construction, installation, licensed design or engineering, or medical assessment.
We personally choose one best-fit professional from the independent contractors we work with. The selected contractor remains a separate business—not our employee or agent—and controls the technical scope, estimate, price, contract, schedule, permits, workers, methods, warranty, and work. Any agreement for that work is directly between the homeowner and contractor.
Assessments, contractor selection, and compensation
- Homeowners are not charged for the initial assessment and contractor-selection request and are not obligated to hire.
- Safe In Place may receive compensation from the contractor selected for an introduction or project opportunity.
- Safe In Place does not auction or broadcast a homeowner request to multiple contractors.
- An assessment request or ZIP-code result does not guarantee that a contractor is available, will provide an estimate, or will accept the project.
- Our selection is not a warranty or guarantee of credentials, price, quality, safety, timing, or outcome.
Your responsibilities before hiring
You are responsible for evaluating the contractor and proposed work. Verify the applicable license, registration, insurance, references, permit requirements, written scope, price, payment schedule, cancellation terms, and warranty before signing or paying. See our Contractor Standards & Homeowner Checklist for practical questions to ask.
Your submissions and communications
Provide accurate, current information and submit information about another person or property only when you are authorized to do so. Do not submit unlawful, harmful, misleading, or unnecessarily sensitive content.
When you affirmatively authorize contractor sharing, you permit Safe In Place to provide the request and contact information to the independent contractor we select as the best fit for that project. That contractor may call, text, or email about the project. The authorization does not cover unrelated marketing. You can withdraw permission before future disclosure by contacting us, and you can tell the selected contractor directly to stop contacting you.
Not emergency or professional advice
Website content and preliminary assessment questions are general information, not medical, occupational-therapy, engineering, legal, code, or emergency advice. For an immediate safety or medical emergency, call 911 or the appropriate emergency service.
Acceptable use
Do not interfere with the platform, attempt unauthorized access, scrape or resell data, impersonate others, submit fraudulent requests, misuse contractor or homeowner information, or use the platform in violation of law.
Service availability and responsibility
We work to keep our information and services useful, but they are provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, Safe In Place disclaims implied warranties regarding the service and is not responsible for independent contractors' acts, omissions, estimates, agreements, work, property damage, injuries, delays, disputes, or outcomes.
To the extent permitted by law, Safe In Place will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of the platform or contractor services. Nothing in these terms limits rights or liability that cannot legally be limited.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms when the service or applicable requirements change. Continued use after an update means the revised terms apply to later use.
Questions about these terms can be sent to hello@safeinplace.org. See our Privacy Policy for information practices.
