Privacy, explained plainly.
Safe In Place uses personal information to assess home-safety and accessibility needs, select one best-fit professional from our contractor network, and coordinate the introduction. This policy explains what we collect, why we use it, and when it is shared.
The short version
When you start an assessment, we use the details to understand the need and choose the contractor we believe best fits the specific project. Only after your affirmative authorization do we share relevant information with that selected contractor. We do not broadcast your request to multiple contractors or an open marketplace.
Information we collect
- Contact details, such as your name, email address, and phone number
- Project and household details you choose to provide, including accessibility concerns, relationship to the resident, property type, address, access notes, timing, and service needs
- Contractor account, business, service-area, lead-purchase, and transaction information
- Website and attribution information, such as pages visited, referring page, approximate location derived from network data, device/browser information, and campaign or click identifiers
- Messages, calls, support requests, feedback, and other communications with us
Please do not submit information about another person unless you are authorized to do so. Do not include medical records, Social Security numbers, financial account information, or other information that is not needed for the project request.
How we use information
- Receive, review, route, and respond to homeowner and contractor requests.
- Assess the project and select the best-fit contractor based on the job, location, capabilities, and availability.
- Enable communications about the requested project and provide status or service messages.
- Operate contractor accounts, offers, lead purchases, payment records, and platform administration.
- Measure website and marketing performance, prevent misuse, troubleshoot, secure the platform, and improve our services.
- Comply with law, enforce our terms, protect rights and safety, and respond to lawful requests.
When we share information
The selected contractor. After you authorize sharing, we may provide the request and contact information to the one independent contractor Safe In Place selects for the project so that contractor can confirm fit and contact you. That contractor is a separate business with its own privacy and security practices.
How our business model works. Safe In Place may receive compensation from the contractor selected for an introduction or project opportunity. We do not auction the request or sell it to multiple contractors. Depending on the law that applies to you, a compensated disclosure may still be considered a “sale” or “sharing.” You may ask us not to make future disclosures by emailing us with the subject “Privacy Request.”
Service providers. We use companies that help with hosting and databases, email delivery, analytics and advertising measurement, communications, payment processing, and operational support. They receive information only for the services they provide to us, subject to their terms and our arrangements with them.
Legal, safety, and business events. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect people or the platform, investigate misuse, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets subject to appropriate protections.
We do not use homeowner project details for unrelated contractor advertising.
Analytics, advertising, and cookies
We and our service providers may use cookies, browser storage, tags, and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember attribution, understand visits, measure conversions, and evaluate advertising. These tools may collect page, device, referral, campaign, and click information. Browser settings and available platform controls can limit some technologies, although parts of the site may work differently.
Retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to operate the platform, maintain transaction and consent records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and satisfy legal obligations. We use safeguards designed for the nature of the information we hold, but no system or transmission is completely secure.
Your choices
You can ask to access, correct, or delete information, withdraw permission for future disclosure to a selected contractor, or exercise privacy rights that apply where you live. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information when legally permitted or required. A contractor who already received your information must be contacted directly about its copy.
Additional details
Children. The platform is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13.
External sites. Links to contractor or third-party sites are governed by those sites' policies.
Changes. We may update this policy as our services or practices change. The effective date above shows the latest version.
